Norway and Greece, favorites of this contest, did well but not as good as expected. Arash is a world class singer (he's born in Iran and but has roots from Azerbaijzan) and his song is probably one to watch for the future. His songs "Boro Boro" and "Arash" are already played Worldwide. Can Azerbaijzan really finish 1st for the first time instead of the very advertised song of Norway? Tomorrow we'll know the answer. From last week on, every host city of the respective year will be handing over the city keys to the Mayor of the next Host city. Last week Lord Mayor Mr Jussi PAJUNEN of Helsinki handed over the city keys to the Deputy of the Lord of Belgrade, Ms Radmila HRUSTANOVIC. The grand ceremony took place in Belgrade. The initiative was offered by the Event Manager of the 2007 ESC, Kjell Ekholm, working for YLE. To do so, the contest only admitted songs performed in the mother tongue of the artist. Today, we observe a hegemony of the English language, and hardly anyone thinks of singing in their native, probably a bit exotic, language. Needless to mention the quality of the English, often taking the patience of a herd of elephants to get it. Which country is best prepared? I love the fact that the winner does not have to host the next edition of the contest, which kind of alleviates the pressure from the kids. Would you agree that the JESC is mild enough or there should be some changes introduced to the rules in order to protect children from being exposed to severe competition? The objects of criticism are the voting system and the national commentators. The voting system is regarded as being corrupt as it allows for biased favour voting. The countries from Eastern Europe have been pointed as to have benefited from this system. There is no mention, however, of how exactly the system allows for favour voting, or voting by expatriates and gastarbeiters. Such criticism is not an isolated case. According to reports, most viewers in Western Europe, or the Old ESC competitors, have already lost interest in the contest and have turned watching it into a butt of ridicule. The New ESC countries show more and more concern with the competition, which naturally results in more active voters. Anyway, we can't wait to see the Danish answer with next-year's participation. Whatever critics say, however well or bad the girls sing, they deserve some attention. Elena Temnikova was born on 18 April, 1985 in the town of Kurgan. She started singing at the age of five. "I remember one of my first teachers," Elena says, "who had gigantic feet, which I enjoyed very much. Today I have time for nothing else, but work. There is even little time for meeting friends... I cannot give up reading... and I enjoy very much and now I miss sauna... I know that I will never be an "average woman", because there will never be a man who will change my character. Perhaps all my life long I will b e living surrounded by music and... lovers!" Elena loves chatting on the Internet. Elena says that what gives her real pleasure is, pr rather are, the stage, sex, and fast cars. Olya Seryabkina was born in 12 April 1985 in Moscow. When she was 7, she began practising ball dances, and 10 years later she got the title "candidate for master of sport". She took part in many international competitions. Olya finished a school of arts in "pop singing". In 2006 she got her university degree in translation. She loves dancing. Her nature is of a warrior. Always on the move, she hates wasting her time not doing anything. I love sport and chocolate," Olya says. Marina Lizorkina was born in Moscow too. She absolutely adores driving... fast and big cars. "I can't bear it, if I'm not at the wheel for more than a day. And I can't stand the sight of sick and hungry animals, I always have to help them..." Marina loves oil painting. She draws aliens, creatures from other worlds in the universe. "My pictures produce strange feelings in people," Marina admits, "because everyone can find a piece of themselves in them." She doesn't like speaking of music in terms of genres and styles. "I love people," Marina says, "I love the world, life, and everything I do." The Show will feature Eurovision artists, who will sing LIVE. The show will be aired on a weekly basis and will run from beginning of October up till June 2008. Many international singers have already confirmed participation. The producers of the show are now focusing more on big Eurovision names, which are still kept in secret. The artists will be meeting Eurovision fans, giving radio interviews and perhaps appearing on stage in local music events. This is the number of people, who have submitted their documents to host the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade. OGAE Serbia say that among the applicants there are many common people, as well as popular singers and tv faces, stars of the film industry, and fashion models. One cannot but remember 1992 the then Yugoslavian representative Ekstra Nena, who is among the thousand candidates. Popular reporter of public Swedish broadcaster SVT Jovan Radomir is also on the list. He is famous not only for announcing the Swedish televoting results at the Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki, but also for his work on winning Molitva's arrangement and sound. RTS will pick up just 48 eligible applicants (24 men and 24 women), who will then be divided into couples. The winner will be chosen by the audience during a reality show. More than 400 projects for design of the logo have also been sent to RTS. Seems like Serbia is very very active!
