Azerbaijzan won the impressions in yesterday's 2nd Semi-Final.
Norway and Greece, favorites of this contest, did well but not as good as expected.

Arash is a world class singer (he's born in Iran and but has roots from Azerbaijzan) and his song is probably one to watch for the future. His songs "Boro Boro" and "Arash" are already played Worldwide. Can Azerbaijzan really finish 1st for the first time instead of the very advertised song of Norway? Tomorrow we'll know the answer.

If you've heard the latest news, Estonia and Georgia are thinking of boycotting the next Eurovision Song Contest by way of showing to Moscow that what they did in Georgia was not right.

Politics aside, I was wondering what you think of this possibility? If two ex-Russian countries do not take part, will this have an effect on the results? Come on, share your views

THE VIDEO IS NUMBER 15 MOST VIEWED IN YOUTUBE with 4500 views in just 4 days!

LETS MAKE EUROVISION FAIR, FUN AND UNPREDICABLE AGAIN
SOMEBODY LETS EXPLAIN TO US WHY THE SCORE AT THE FIRST SEMI FINAL WAS:

GREECE 156 (pos 1)
RUSSIA 135 (pos 3)

My theory is simple.

We have Former Soviet Union Countries (12 of them in Eurovision Contest already)
12 out of the 45 countries voting is almost the 1/4

Assuming that one of these countries will come with a well promoted and catchy song (e.g russia and ukraine this year) it will gather about 100 points out of the almost 280 (almost needed to win the competition)

Under these circumstances WHEN WILL A COUNTRY LIKE UK OR GERMANY OR FRANCE OR SPAIN WIN THE CONTEST AGAIN????

NEVER.....

Voting terms have to be re-established, eurovision can't continue like this....EUROVISION has to be FUN, UNPREDICTABLE, FAIR and INNOCENT AGAIN

THIS BLOG is explaining facts...but also searching for new approches and solutions concerning Fair Voting...

Russia's win this year was just an example of what we are about to experience in the following years if something doesnt change IMMEDIATELY....

The purpose of the video is to provoke such discussions...is to make you think about the future of the competition...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFyQ1wWLPo8

and before you ask me...the music behind the video is from a great GOTHIC METAL OPERA BAND called ''THERION

Serbian public service broadcaster RTS already has the name of the winner for stage design. In June, the TV announced a competition for the design of the stage, and 70 people turned up with set-ups to compete for the chance to have work carried out for the Contest.

Here is the stage itself.

And the author is the Confluence design, which also got first prize and 10.000 euros.

What do you think of the stage? Nice, ha? Looking forward to it welcoming this-year's artists..

Finally the rules for the ESC have changed. EBU announced that they introduce 2 semi-finals, to be aired live on the same night. 8-O

Okay, it's an attempt to handle neighbour voting, but it means the TV in your country will show live only the semifinal your country participates in. Besides, the shown at 6 and the shown at 10 will for sure have different audiences... and how will the countries be distributed in the two semi-finals...? :-?

so many questions.. this thing smacks of the fall of eurovision, don't you think?
A pop-folk diva is among the candidates who've submitted their entries for the Bulgarian national selection for the 2008 ESC in Belgrade :D http://www.9m-bg.com/pages/2005/725@11.jpg Liana is the name of this amazing beauty..

Pop-folk chicks are noticeable for their big boobs, long blond or dark hairs, long legs, fast cars, and... dubious vocal gifts

The Bulgarian public broadcaster has a bag of surprises this year for the enthusiastic mobs who aspire to Eurovision stardom. All who've submitted their songs will have the change to perform LIVE. This year, no selection commission will take the burden to select the participants for the next stage - it will be the viewers who will be banishing unsuitable entrants one by one.

The national broadcaster also promises to upload all stages from the national selection on their website.

EBU has introduced a new initiative connected to the Eurovision Song Contest. From last week on, every host city of the respective year will be handing over the city keys to the Mayor of the next Host city. Last week Lord Mayor Mr Jussi PAJUNEN of Helsinki handed over the city keys to the Deputy of the Lord of Belgrade, Ms Radmila HRUSTANOVIC.

The grand ceremony took place in Belgrade. The initiative was offered by the Event Manager of the 2007 ESC, Kjell Ekholm, working for YLE. This is yet another attempt on the part of EBU to make the Contest more interesting, involving more people and the interest of the press. Hopefully, it will work out well for the event.

Sarbel, you remember the sweet Greek star in the 2007 Eurovision, has finally gone back to the studio, and he seems to be up to his third album. Yassou Maria was a grand success, but Sarbel will probably shake off the cheesy mood about his style and amaze the audience with a real strong CD.

Sarbel ranked 7th in the 2007 Helsinki Eurovision Song Contest grand final.

A topic many times discussed, here, there and everywhere around the ESC universe. Still, I want to talk about it again.

The Eurovision Song Contest started with the idea of celebrating Europe's cultural diversity. To do so, the contest only admitted songs performed in the mother tongue of the artist.

Today, we observe a hegemony of the English language, and hardly anyone thinks of singing in their native, probably a bit exotic, language. Needless to mention the quality of the English, often taking the patience of a herd of elephants to get it.

Or perhaps the ESC simply translates the trend of globalization, when you can sing in any language, as long as it is English.. Smacks of conveyor-belt production? What do you reckon?
I love the fact that the winner does not have to host the next edition of the contest, which kind of alleviates the pressure from the kids. Would you agree that the JESC is mild enough or there should be some changes introduced to the rules in order to protect children from being exposed to severe competition?

Recent survey on the Eurovision Song Contest carried out in Denmark shows that the viewers in the country have grown very disappointed with the competition, DR announced.

The objects of criticism are the voting system and the national commentators. The voting system is regarded as being corrupt as it allows for biased favour voting. The countries from Eastern Europe have been pointed as to have benefited from this system. There is no mention, however, of how exactly the system allows for favour voting, or voting by expatriates and gastarbeiters.

Such criticism is not an isolated case. According to reports, most viewers in Western Europe, or the Old ESC competitors, have already lost interest in the contest and have turned watching it into a butt of ridicule. The New ESC countries show more and more concern with the competition, which naturally results in more active voters.

Anyway, we can't wait to see the Danish answer with next-year's participation.

Serebro took part in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki and finished at the prestigious third position, Verka Serduchka taking on them. Whatever critics say, however well or bad the girls sing, they deserve some attention.

Elena Temnikova was born on 18 April, 1985 in the town of Kurgan. She started singing at the age of five. "I remember one of my first teachers," Elena says, "who had gigantic feet, which I enjoyed very much. Today I have time for nothing else, but work. There is even little time for meeting friends... I cannot give up reading... and I enjoy very much and now I miss sauna... I know that I will never be an "average woman", because there will never be a man who will change my character. Perhaps all my life long I will b e living surrounded by music and... lovers!" Elena loves chatting on the Internet. Elena says that what gives her real pleasure is, pr rather are, the stage, sex, and fast cars.

Olya Seryabkina was born in 12 April 1985 in Moscow. When she was 7, she began practising ball dances, and 10 years later she got the title "candidate for master of sport". She took part in many international competitions. Olya finished a school of arts in "pop singing". In 2006 she got her university degree in translation. She loves dancing. Her nature is of a warrior. Always on the move, she hates wasting her time not doing anything. I love sport and chocolate," Olya says.

Marina Lizorkina was born in Moscow too. She absolutely adores driving... fast and big cars. "I can't bear it, if I'm not at the wheel for more than a day. And I can't stand the sight of sick and hungry animals, I always have to help them..." Marina loves oil painting. She draws aliens, creatures from other worlds in the universe. "My pictures produce strange feelings in people," Marina admits, "because everyone can find a piece of themselves in them." She doesn't like speaking of music in terms of genres and styles. "I love people," Marina says, "I love the world, life, and everything I do."

More than 1000. This is the number of people, who have submitted their documents to host the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade. OGAE Serbia say that among the applicants there are many common people, as well as popular singers and tv faces, stars of the film industry, and fashion models.

One cannot but remember 1992 the then Yugoslavian representative Ekstra Nena, who is among the thousand candidates. Popular reporter of public Swedish broadcaster SVT Jovan Radomir is also on the list. He is famous not only for announcing the Swedish televoting results at the Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki, but also for his work on winning Molitva's arrangement and sound.

RTS will pick up just 48 eligible applicants (24 men and 24 women), who will then be divided into couples. The winner will be chosen by the audience during a reality show.

More than 400 projects for design of the logo have also been sent to RTS. Seems like Serbia is very very active!
