EBU has introduced a new initiative connected to the Eurovision Song Contest. From last week on, every host city of the respective year will be handing over the city keys to the Mayor of the next Host city. Last week Lord Mayor Mr Jussi PAJUNEN of Helsinki handed over the city keys to the Deputy of the Lord of Belgrade, Ms Radmila HRUSTANOVIC.
The grand ceremony took place in Belgrade. The initiative was offered by the Event Manager of the 2007 ESC, Kjell Ekholm, working for YLE. This is yet another attempt on the part of EBU to make the Contest more interesting, involving more people and the interest of the press. Hopefully, it will work out well for the event.
